Rooms and availability
the hotel and golf course are first class
We stayed in one of the lodges and found it very spacious and comfortable for all the family
I liked the food the island and the gazels in the morning.
The location of the resort was idyllic. The self catering lodge we stayed in was fantastic. The level of comfort and cleanliness was outstanding. We particularly enjoyed having open access to the stunning castle hotel and lovely golf club, which was really 'family friendly'.
We were disappointed that we had to pay almost 20 euros for a one off visit for our two children to use the swimming pool at the 'Woodlands' sister resort hotel. We would like to suggest that access to this swimming pool should be included as part of the Waterford hotel holiday package.
peace, quiet.service, staff were all pleasant and happy to serve you. Walks nature
restaurant menu was overpriced and restricted to 65 euro The starter myself and husband ordered was scallops we got two small ones each Coming from west cork when one orders scallops on the menu you get at least 4 if not more. Also we only got mashed potato and no veg with our main course. The wine was also overpriced. We did not have desert. All in all i think we should have had a choice of what we wanted to eat like Al Carte menu so we could choose what we wanted. Also they charge service charge which is wrong and if the service was bad i dont see why one should have to pay without been asked. As it happened the service was good.
People at golf restaurant were nice. The idea. Of the Villas is great, however, the reality of them and their service was totally unsatisfactory. The advertising did not disclose the lack of maid and other essentials.
The villas are well overpriced for what you get. There was considerable mold both inside and out. The rooms were not serviced and you were not informed of this fact. The value for €400 per night was not there and. We stayed in other hotels of uh better quality and service for €100 per night. There was no telephone in the room so no way to inform the reception of any problems Or emergencies. Following breakfast, the service area in the dining room was a mess.
friendly staff. gorgeous accommodation
i travelled with my 2yr old twins i availed of 2 travel cots. i had to PAY 30e for these. i have been to many hotels and never had to pay to "rent" travel cots. this is my only negative!i was really annoyed about paying
10euros for two cups of coffee was a joke .when the kids wanted to play tennis the staff could not find the tennis balls they said that other people did not return them .other hotels charge a fee that you get back when you return the items borrowed.
The service, gardens and surroundings and the quiet and peaceful atmosphere
Shower in bathtub with an inefficient enclosure, plumbing in bathroom and inadequate storage.
The food was generally quite good and we saw some small wildlife outside or window.
Dreadful shower in our room. Wheelie bins collected very noisily from below our window very early in the morning. Most of the listed wines were unavailable. Ridiculously high price for what was on offer, so appalling value for money.
The Golf Villas were clean, modern and spacious. The price for these for a family is very good. If you are here for golfing great.
We stayed at the Golf Villas. They do not tell you on the web site that there is no access to the Internet what so ever. You have to go up to the Castle where there is one router with questionable service in a side room next to the lobby. If you have to stay connected at all this is not the resort for you. The Island is several miles from Waterford which was in fact our least favorite town in Ireland. After all the beautiful small towns we saw, Waterford has little to offer. If you want to see the Waterford Crystal Factory tour (which is great) stay in Kilkenny and drive down for half a day. Skip Lismore all together. I is a ghost town with most stores vacant.
The front desk folks were great; especially Mairead Moroney.
We had a wonderful stay. Travelled all the way from Australia to stay in a castle and it was everything I had hoped for.We sayed in the Rose Suite, it was lovely. Special mention for our afternoon tea, silver service and the best hot chocolate we have ever had. Staff were terrific and very welcoming. Would rcommend this hotel and would love to stay again.
My only complaint was the heating, too hot for us.
The friendly supportive staff. Their wholehearted effort to insure your stay was top class facilities were excellent. A eaceful oasis is a busy travel schedule. Outstandingly great
The size of our room was enormous and lovely. Canapy bed, antique furniture. The bathroom was also enormous. We enjoyed the holiday decorations throughout and the quiet atmosphere. Warm cozy bar area to relax with drinks. The food here and in the main dining area was superb. Friendly, helpful staff.
Everything was wonderful. An unforgetable experience.
